About Me
Judy Johnson began singing at a very young age. At the age of 15, she began classical training on the east coast and then moved to Geneva, Switzerland where she studied Bel Canto (classical technique) with a retired prominent Metropolitan Opera singer for 10 years. During that time she also studied classical piano, languages, worked at the United Nations and traveled the world. While in Europe, Judy participated in international singing competitions, gave recitals for the United Nations and held lead roles in various musicals. She then returned to the United States and while residing in San Diego, has performed at numerous events including the Del Mar Fair for Cox Cable, a Veteran's Day memorial on the USS Midway where she sang the National Anthem, countless solos at local churches, annual Hospice mass memorial services, and other venues.

Judy obtained her B.A. in Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work and uses this education as a Hospice Social Worker where she also sings at bedside for her terminal patients and their families. Judy is a member of the Martin Luther King Junior Community Gospel Choir and performs in concerts throughout the county of San Diego.

Judy’s vocal style is extremely versatile due to her training, substantial vocal range and eclectic repertoire. Judy is a “coloratura soprano,” which means her vocal range extends to the highest possible notes, yet it does not preclude her lower range from shining as well. She can easily sing an operatic or classical piece one minute, follow it with a sultry Broadway tune, and finish with a religious or popular favorite. The title of the CD reflects the songs that are often requested for her to sing at weddings funerals, celebrations of life, anniversaries or memorials and thus touches on the cycle of life’s joys and sorrows.

She feels that singing has always been and will always be part of her spiritual ministry. Says Judy, “It is a means of saying 'thank you' to God for this life, the gifts and opportunities I have been given, and the pure pleasure of bringing joy to others through music.”
